Miami John Cernuto

Cernuto has more winnings at the game of Omaha High Low Poker then any other player in history and he has won the accumulate amount of 2.5 million dollars from poker tournaments.



Life Story

Cernuto was born in New Jersey on January 11th, 1944. He studied at Florida State University and graduated with a finance degree.

After graduating he worked for 17 years as an air traffic controller at Miami-Dade International Airport and participated in the famous 1981 strike, for which he was later fired by President Reagan.

Later on he decided to try and play poker professionally, so he immediately moved to Las Vegas and started to play.

He achieved his first major tournament win in 1988 and collected a prize of $50,000 at a Caesar's Palace tournament. His favorite game is Omaha High Low, and it is also the game he is best of. Miami John currently lives in Las Vegas Nevada with his wife and his three children.

Tournaments

In 2003 Cernuto played in ParadisePoker.com World Heads Up Poker Championship in Vienna, Austria, and won the event against 128 players including Scotty Nguyen, Phil Hellmuth and Carlos Mortensen.

He has won over fifty first place titles and three best overall player awards.
John has won three World Series of Poker bracelets from Seven Card Stud Eight-or-Better from 1996, No Limit Holdem in 1997 and Omaha in 2002.

In 2004 he won two back to back Omaha High Low events at L.A. Poker Classic and at Bay 101 Shooting Stars.
