Annie Duke



Annie Duke isn't the only poker prodigy in her family. She is the brother of World Poker Pro Howard Lederer.
Annie majored in psychology and English at Colombia University but she quit her academic life and got married to her friend, Ben Duke and together, they moved to Montana.
Annie began playing in legal poker halls and with her brother as her coaching guide, she began winning games.
In 1994, Annie and her husband moved to Las Vegas in order to play poker full time. In the 2000 World Series of Poker, Annie took tenth place (during the time when she was eight months pregnant with her third child).
In 2004, Annie was beginning to gain recognition when she started tutoring A-List actor Ben Affleck. In September 2004, Duke won 2 Million Dollars at the World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions.
Nowadays, Annie is considered one of the best poker players in the world. In 2006, she won one World Series of Poker bracelet and more than 3 millions dollars.
Lately, she has been refusing to play in woman only tournaments explaining that poker is one of the only sports where a woman can be equal to a man.
Annie even beat out her brother Howard in the 2004 World Series of Poker.
Up till now, Annie Duke has made over 3 million dollars in her winnings.
In 2002, Annie divorced her husband and moved to Los Angeles along with her four children.
