Graham Houghton, manager for Brewin Dolphin Security, stole more than 370,000 pounds misappropriating over 129 cheques in order to fund his gambling addiction. He has been sentenced to 2.5 years in prison.
Houghton was an avid gambler at online casinos, land based casinos, and at racetrack. He reached the amazing debt of 500,000 pounds and since he could not cover it, he began to steal cash and embezzle cheques at work. He said to his bosses that those cheques were for clients and this way misappropriated more than 129 cheques during seven years.
Newcastle Crown Court sentenced Graham Houghton to 2.5 years in prison for stealing for seven years the international stocks company where he worked as a manager.
