The latest absurd story connected to race tracks and the horse racing scene in general was reported by breeder Rob Whiteley in the weekly magazine Final Turn. Whiteley assures this story is perhaps the most bizarre he has ever come across.
At Hollywood Park, they decided to leave horsemen without a grass course because the fall-winter meeting of the Inglewood track was going to take place. Whiteley, in amazement, rhetorically asks in his column whether they could not grow grass in California.
Whiteley does not blame anyone in particular, neither the former management of Churchill Downs of the new one at Bay Meadows Land Co. To him, blaming does not make any change, for the most important thing is that the owners and investors, as well as the horse racing fans will not have the quality experience they deserve, and only this matters.
