Baccarat-The Game and the Myth

Baccarat is probably one of the easiest card games to learn and yet it is considered one of the most prestigious games played at casinos. We can only assume what makes baccarat the luxurious game it is, and that is exactly what we are going to do here- assume.

But First, Basic Rules

The game is between the player and the dealer. Each player is dealt with two cards; the goal of the game is to have a card value of nine, but not over it. The hand a player can have is a "natural hand" which is two cards with the value of nine. The second best hand is when the first two cards have the value of eight. There are three options of betting; the dealer's hand, the player's hand and a tie.

Baccarat Room

Not anyone can enter the room of baccarat, only high rollers can afford to join the game. The reason for that is the high minimum bet (that can go up to 500 dollars and more) which is customary at a baccarat room. Because of that, the game attracts high rollers only. The atmosphere of the game is as important as its rules, and it is carefully maintained by several environmental effects. For instance, the baccarat room is usually covered with curtains and if you indeed a high roller you will also enjoy the presence of a casino girl (or two). The game is taken very seriously even though the game itself is hardly a brain stretcher.

The Myth

Is it a high profit game for the casino or is it a high profit game for the players? I do not think anyone really knows, but the division of opinions on this matter is somewhat fifty fifty. In my opinion it is a high profit game for the casino only in its current addition of high rollers game. Perhaps there would be no profit at all without all the mysterious fog around it.

The Other Baccarat

There is of course another kind of baccarat, the one where anyone is allowed in at small amounts and no mystery- the online baccarat. Before the online days the gambling world was only for people who are in fact gamblers (and I am not talking about the ones in Las Vegas near the slot machine). In this day and age anyone can play any game, any amount and any time.
